KARAR DANCE COMPANY presents their second production Across Disciplines: celebrating Richmond artists through collaborative dance performance.  Performances include partnerships with; musician Ryan Davis, visual artist Katy Pumphrey, dance filmmaker Callie Moore, and young dancers from local dance studios.  Across Disciplines promotes and builds community by connecting artists with audience members to share in conversation.  KARAR DANCE COMPANY’s mission is to provide the community with access to bold and powerful, professional dance performance and education.       

Affected is set to an original score by local musician, Ryan Davis. Davis’ music developed alongside the choreography celebrating the partnership of dance and music.  This piece is inspired by forgiveness. Our human nature assumes forgiveness to be an emotion given to someone else but we often fail to give forgiveness to ourselves.  What does the process of self-forgiveness look and feel like? This duet navigates the journey and process of forgiving one’s self.

Hive consists of a cast made up entirely of youth dancers from local Richmond dance studios.  By working with young artists KARAR DANCE COMPANY provides talented and aspiring dancers the opportunity to perform alongside a professional dance company and for them to gain more knowledge regarding the rehearsal and performance processes.
